KWAZULU-NATAL — March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma has called on her supporters to turn out in force for the 4 November Local Government Elections, warning that voter apathy would hand power back to what she described as "the thieves."
Ngobese-Zuma made the remarks on 21 October 2026, following a day of heightened activity in Durban, where e-hailing drivers led a motorcade through the city.
Members of the March and March Movement joined the procession, which also took on an anti-illegal immigration character. Police and South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel were deployed across the city in response.
Ngobese-Zuma's warning to supporters
Speaking to protesters, Ngobese-Zuma urged them to identify and back aligned candidates in the upcoming Local Government Elections. Her message was direct: those who stay home on election day risk allowing the very figures the movement opposes to reclaim office.
Dr Cornè Mulder addresses anti-illegal immigration protests

Dr Mulder made the remarks during a party election campaign tour in Durbanville, Cape Town, ahead of the Local Government Elections.
