The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to unveil its National Campaign Council at its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja.
The opposition party also said it would present its statement of account at the meeting as part of efforts to demonstrate transparency and accountability in the management of its finances.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed the plans in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, the meeting will take place at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, beginning at 10 am.
Director said the presentation of the party’s financial statement would be a major highlight of the gathering.
He challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar measures to promote transparency in party financing.
The NDC spokesman maintained that the party was committed to doing politics differently, adding that financial accountability remained a key part of its approach.
He also attributed the party’s decision to provide free Expression of Interest forms to some candidates to the economic difficulties facing Nigerians.
According to Director, about 80 per cent of the party’s candidates could not afford the forms because of the level of poverty, hunger and deprivation in the country.
He blamed the situation on the APC-led government’s economic policies, arguing that the party had to provide the forms at no cost to enable the affected candidates to participate.
Beyond the financial disclosures, the NDC said the NEC meeting would provide an opportunity to formally introduce its National Campaign Council, which will oversee its campaigns across different levels of government.
Director explained that the council would cover the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly campaigns.

He concluded with the party’s message: “A New Nigeria is Possible. We can do it!”
