There was no illness, no accident, no warning. Angel went to bed and simply did not wake up. She had reportedly spent her final days rehearsing for the school's Festival of Arts, where she was due to perform.
The festival proceeded as planned on Saturday, October 17, but the joy of the occasion was overshadowed by the absence of a girl who had worked so hard to be part of it. Those who had rehearsed alongside Angel felt the weight of her empty place acutely.
Angel was the beloved daughter of Simon Gitonga and Elizabeth Wangu, who run Siel Supermarket. She leaves behind her brother Allan Muriithi, and her sister Hope Wagaki. Her grandparents, Julius Mwangi and Rose Wambui of Kamakwa, Nyeri, also mourn her loss.
When will Angel Wambui be laid to rest?
Friends, relatives and well-wishers have been gathering daily at the family's residence in Mweiga Town for prayers and funeral arrangements.
The cortège will depart Outspan Funeral Home at 9 am on Friday, October 23, 2026. A funeral service will follow at P.C.E.A. Mweiga Church at 10 am, after which Angel will be laid to rest at the family home in Mweiga Town, next to Juniper.
May Angel Wambui Gitonga rest in peace, and may her parents, siblings, grandparents and the entire Good Shepherd Academy community find comfort and strength in the days ahead.
