HL Robotics' outdoor self-driving parking robot "Stan" will make its debut in Gangneung.
HL Robotics, a subsidiary of HL Holdings (060980.KS), said on the 16th that it will demonstrate Stan at the 32nd Gangneung ITS World Congress, to be held from the 19th to the 23rd at Olympic Park in Gangneung, Gangwon State. The ITS World Congress is the world's largest exhibition in the intelligent transport systems field.
HL Robotics will deploy two Stan units at the parking lot of the Gangneung Hockey Centre to show autonomous parking in a real-world setting, including the process of moving vehicles in and out. The company will also present an integrated control system based on a digital twin. The system replicates an actual parking facility in a digital environment and links the locations, travel routes and operating status of robots and vehicles.
Stan is an outdoor-only self-driving parking robot developed by Stanley Robotics, a French startup that HL Robotics acquired in 2024. It can operate in extreme cold and heat and can transport vehicles weighing up to 3 tons.
HL Robotics plans to advance solutions that automate the movement of vehicles in and out of both indoor and outdoor facilities, using Stan alongside "Parkie," its indoor-only parking robot. The company aims to use that approach to target the domestic parking and vehicle logistics market.
"Until now, parking robots in Korea have been introduced and commercialized mainly for indoor use, but outdoor parking is also a major pillar of the market," said Kim Yoon-ki, chief executive of HL Robotics. "At the ITS World Congress, we will showcase Stan's outdoor self-driving technology and our integrated control system, and we will expand its adoption in Korea."
