Illuvium co-founder Kieran Warwick expects artificial intelligence to drive a wave of speculative crypto games, potentially bringing 100,000 new titles to market within a year. He warned that many could last only days, exposing traders to scams, exploits, and abrupt losses.
The prediction comes as cheaper development tools lower barriers for creators, while established blockchain gaming companies still face questions about player demand.
Warwick said games such as Wolf Game and Fishing Frenzy previously required months of development. AI now allows teams to produce comparable projects in days for roughly $1,000. He expects repeat creators to launch games rapidly, using short lifespans to capture trading activity.
AI Crypto Games Could Follow Memecoin Launches
He compared that model with token launchpads that helped fuel the 2024 memecoin surge. According to CoinGecko figures, memecoin market value peaked at $150.6 billion in December 2024. By November 2025, it had fallen nearly 69% to $47.2 billion.
Pump.fun helped fuel the memecoin surge by simplifying token launches. Warwick expects similarly frequent new game deployments, with some creators releasing one title after another and closing projects after only a few days of activity.
Warwick said speculative traders could move toward games that offer another way to pursue quick returns. Yet he also warned of fraudulent projects, security breaches and heavy losses. In his view, the resulting activity would not necessarily strengthen crypto gaming over time.
Instead, Warwick contrasted disposable titles with Illuvium's long-term work on games that combine strong gameplay with digital ownership. He described that approach as the industry's more durable goal, rather than relying on brief trading cycles.
Robby Yung, an executive at Animoca Brands and The Sandbox, also questioned the staying power of simple speculative releases. He said games depend on retaining players, not just attracting attention at launch.
Demand Remains a Bigger Test Than Game Supply
Can faster game creation bring enough players to sustain a larger crypto gaming market?
Mirai Labs co-founder Corey Wilton pointed to weak demand after his company released six or seven games. That experience led the firm to question whether Web3 audiences could support further launches. More titles alone would not resolve the shortage of active users.
DappRadar data put total value locked across 2,356 decentralized gaming apps at $232.2 million. At the time of the report, the 50 largest gaming tokens together represented about $3.8 billion in market capitalization.
Yung offered another explanation for the market's limited reach. He said consumers have relatively few enjoyable crypto titles to choose from. As a result, weak adoption may reflect a shortage of appealing games, rather than resistance to blockchain features.
Meanwhile, an upcoming farming game, Yield Fields, drew an estimated $8.3 million from digital land sales on October 14. The project uses nonfungible tokens and plans to launch on the Robinhood chain at the end of October.

Industry Sees More Creativity and Stronger Competition
Sébastien Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox and president of the Blockchain Game Alliance, expects AI to expand the range of games creators can build. Tools now simplify work involving artwork, levels, music, and sound. However, Borget said greater output makes distribution and audience discovery more challenging.
An industry survey offers evidence that game companies have already begun using the technology. In the Blockchain Game Alliance's 2025 poll of 506 professionals, 32.8% reported implementing or testing AI for game design and content creation.
Yung compared the shift with mobile gaming around 2010, when cheaper production drew more developers into the field. He said a larger mix of games gave consumers more choice, even though their quality varied.
Ben James, CEO of Atlas Design and 404.xyz, expects basic AI-made titles to look increasingly alike. He said games with distinctive visuals, gameplay, or business models could still stand apart.
Conclusion
Warwick expects AI to make speculative crypto games faster and cheaper to launch, potentially producing 100,000 titles within a year. Yet industry leaders question whether those games can retain players. The market faces security risks, thin demand and growing competition as developers experiment with new formats.
