Rescue teams have deployed helicopters and boats to evacuate residents trapped by severe flooding in Spain’s eastern Valencia province after Storm Adam unleashed torrential rainfall across the region.
Footage filmed on Monday shows streets submerged by floodwaters, rescuers wading through flooded properties and helicopter crews lifting stranded residents to safety.
More than 700 litres of rain per square metre fell in parts of the Valencian Community over 48 hours, triggering flash floods, overflowing rivers and widespread evacuations.
Emergency services reported more than 1,000 rescues across the region as crews worked to reach residents trapped in homes and cut-off communities.
The flooding has disrupted movement across affected areas, with rescue operations continuing as authorities respond to the impact of the storm.
