FIREFIGHTERS staged a dramatic helicopter rescue in Tenerife after a hiker was seriously injured by a falling rock.
The woman was trekking through Hell’s Gorge, a protected nature reserve in the island’s south, when she was struck in the arm by falling debris on Thursday morning.
The injury left the hiker unable to move, prompting emergency crews to race to the scene around 11.15am and airlift her out of the gorge shortly afterwards.

Paramedics treated the woman for a ‘serious’ arm injury in nearby Adeje before transferring her to Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital, according to Canary Islands emergency services.
Her current condition remains unknown.
Firefighters later came to the aid of another woman who was left unable to move after a fall in Anaga Natural Park, in the island’s north, around 1pm.
She suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to the Canary Islands University Hospital for further treatment.
