Evan Stein used to be a member of Anklebiter and Broken Vow, two extremely sick young straight edge hardcore bands from the Northeast. These days, Stein leads If It Rains, another band that fits right into the lineage. If It Rains' style is all passionately ferocious chug that recalls bands like Turning Point and Have Heart at their most dramatic. And hey, look at that, they're about to play one of Have Heart's upcoming reunion shows, and they've got Have Heart frontman Pat Flynn on their new EP.
If It Rains released their hugely promising demo in 2024 and followed it with a two-song single last year. Yesterday, they made good on all that promise with a heavy, powerful, and surprisingly exploratory EP called All We've Got. It's got all the big heart-on-sleeve mosh moments that I want from music like this, but it also stretches out on tracks like the impressive six-minute epic "In Another Life." The EP ends with "But This Life Is All We've Got," a song that features Have Heart/Fiddlehead leader Pat Flynn and Sign Language's Sarah Tolley. Really cool record. Check it out below.
The All We've Got EP is out now on Delayed Gratification.
