A 40-year-old man, Sallau Inuwa, popularly known as Liman Katagum, has been arrested by the police in Bauchi for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death during an argument over car wash charges.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at a car wash in Bauchi metropolis, where the suspect reportedly disagreed with Ibrahim, 45, over the amount charged per vehicle washed.
The Bauchi State Police Command said the argument turned violent when Inuwa allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Ibrahim several times.
The victim was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH, Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead.
Following a report of the incident, police operatives attached to the 'A' Division in Bauchi launched a search for the suspect.
The command said the suspect fled to his paternal home in Liman Katagum, prompting the police to alert officers in the area.
He was subsequently arrested at Mararraban Liman Katagum.
The police said Inuwa was in custody and undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, ahead of prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern that a disagreement over money had resulted in the loss of a life.
He condoled with the deceased's family and urged residents to settle disputes peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
The police spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement issued on Friday said the commissioner maintained that no level of provocation could justify taking another person's life.
