A new Baseus docking station with a smart display and compact design has appeared on Amazon. Featuring dual 4K 60Hz monitor support, six USB ports, and up to 100W charging, the new Spacemate RD1 dock offers an alternative to Anker's recently released 10-in-1 model.
A new Baseus Spacemate RD1 Mini Docking Station is on its way. The new 10-in-1 dock has been listed on Amazon and looks somewhat similar to the Anker Desktop USB-C Hub (curr: $99.99 on Amazon), which went on sale last month. Both offer a 10-in-1 port configuration with an integrated USB-C cable, but there are a few differences.
The Spacemate RD1 Mini features two 10Gbps USB-C ports on the front panel, plus a third 30W USB-C PD port for charging. On the back, there are three 5Gbps USB-A ports, two HDMI ports with 4K60 support, a gigabit Ethernet port, and a 120W DC input. Compared to the Anker model, there are two extra USB-C ports for connecting or charging accessories, but buyers will have to live without SD card slots and a DisplayPort.
The other major difference is in display support. Both can drive two 4K monitors at 60Hz, but the Anker model can bump the refresh rate to 144Hz with a single 4K monitor or up to 240Hz with two 1440p monitors for smoother gaming.
That said, the dock also comes with a smart display that can show live port activity and charging output, and even alert users to connection and charging issues. There is a multifunction button to turn the display on and off or lock the connected laptop.
Other highlights include up to 100W power delivery for laptop charging, along with the 30W USB-C PD port for phones, tablets, and smaller devices. The Spacemate RD1 Mini also features a compact phone-sized design, measuring 4.43 x 2.83 x 1.61 inches.
Price and availability
The Baseus Spacemate RD1 Mini Docking Station is listed on Amazon but is not yet available to order. It's not clear how much it will cost or when it will start shipping, but Amazon's price history shows it was initially listed at $109.99 before the price was adjusted to $169.99. By comparison, the Anker 10-in-1 desktop hub is priced lower at $99.99.
