As part of their 400th anniversary events, St Mary’s Church held a ceremonial planting of a Bermuda cedar tree.
A spokesperson said, “On Sunday, 4th October, St. Mary the Virgin, Warwick, held a ceremonial planting of a Juniperus bermudiana cedar tree as part of the church’s 400th Anniversary Service and Rededication.
“The tree was planted by Mrs. Carla Suite Wright, wife of His Grace, The Most Reverend Philip Wright, M.A., OBE, Archbishop of the Church in the Province of the West Indies, Primate, Metropolitan, and Bishop of Belize, together with Mrs. Melinda Williams of St. Mary the Virgin, with support from the Church Wardens, Vestry, and Congregation.
“The cedar symbolized being rooted in faith, reflecting the anniversary theme: “Generations of Faith: honoring our past, celebrating our present, and glorifying our future.”
“During the anniversary service, The Right Reverend Nicholas Dill, Bishop of Bermuda, rededicated the church, and Archbishop Philip Wright served as the guest preacher. The Rev. Fr. Carl Williams, Priest-in-Charge, led the liturgy.
“St. Mary the Virgin, Warwick, extends its appreciation to all who joined in this historic celebration.”
