Shillong, Oct 15: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Thursday downplayed the opposition VPP’s demand for an explanation from the State Government on the delay in appointment of a regular DGP, after the UPSC had to issue a second reminder.
“What delay? When is this present incumbent DGP retiring?” Tynsong asked.
It may be noted that the present incumbent Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang will be retiring in November this year.
When asked that the VPP had pointed out that the UPSC had issued a second reminder to the Meghalaya Government, Tynsong said, “Well, whatever the UPSC or Ministry of Home Affairs, we are complying with all procedures. In case they want to know more, I would like to request them to come and meet me personally.”
“Let them come and meet me personally. It is not proper just to talk in the press about these official issues. If they want, not necessarily to go to the press like this, let them come and sit across the table, I will explain to them the actualities,” he added.
