Jalang'o, who currently serves as Langata MP, previously signalled his ambitions for the same Nairobi Senate seat, hoping to move up from his current position.
Winnie Odinga's entry into the race therefore caught many observers off guard, with the politician among those reportedly left reconsidering his next move.
Milele FM's Cryptic Post Sparks Laughter
Hours after Winnie Odinga's announcement made the rounds, Milele FM dropped a short but loaded message on social media.
The station wrote: "Its like we will be hirirng soon," without naming anyone or offering any further context. No names, no positions, no details.
Yet Kenyans needed no further explanation. The connection to Jalang'o was drawn almost instantly, given his well-known history with the station.
Before venturing into politics, he co-hosted the popular Milele FM Breakfast Show alongside Alex Mwakideu, building a loyal listenership over the years.
He departed the station on June 22, 2020, after salary negotiations with Mediamax Network Limited broke down, with a proposed pay cut being the main sticking point.
The post had Kenyans in stitches, and the comments section became a playground for political comedy.
Kenyans amused with Milele FM's message
Okeyo Vinnie wrote:
"Just prepare the contract, 'He' coming back very soon."
Gideo Gidionaire offered Jalang'o two possible paths forward:
"He has two options: either join Alex Mwakideu in radio 47 or continue with Jalang'o comedy and other short stories."
Otieno Ba Nizzo noted that at least the paperwork would be straightforward:
"The beauty is that they will not need him to send a CV. They already have it in their database."
Mandela Nelson Odeny summed up the mood with a sharp observation:
"Jalang'o since Winnie Odinga announced her candidature as Nairobi senator..no peace for the wicked."
Mullei John envisioned a dramatic homecoming:
"August Jalas will be singing 'i am coming home where i belong' akiingia milele fm."
Whether Jalang'o ultimately proceeds with his senatorial ambitions or charts a different course remains to be seen, but for now, the internet has already written its own version of events.
