Celebrating creativity, dance and authentic festival moments
The Briefly News team spoke with Silindile Masondo following the widespread response to the energetic performance captured on campus.
When asked what inspired filming and sharing the spontaneous clip online, Masondo shared:
“Honestly, the moment was simply about having fun and expressing ourselves through dance. We were at the TUT Arts Festival, surrounded by so much creativity, music and talent, and we just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere and be ourselves. There wasn’t really a plan for it to become a viral moment; we were just living in the moment and enjoying the festival. I think that’s what makes the video so special because it was completely natural and genuine.”
The team asked where the clip was recorded and who the featured performers were:
“The video was taken at TUT Arts Campus in Pretoria, South Africa, during the annual TUT Arts Festival. The talented dancers featured in the clip are Silindile Masondo, also known as @SleeMsoul1, and Lindokuhle Khumalo. They are both incredibly talented, and it was amazing to see their energy and personalities come through in that moment.”
When asked how it feels to see the overwhelming love and positive reactions the video is garnering across platforms, Masondo expressed:
“It honestly feels surreal. We never expected such a simple, spontaneous moment to reach so many people and receive this much love. Seeing people enjoying the video, sharing it, commenting and celebrating the dancers has been really heartwarming. For us, it’s also a beautiful reminder of the power of authentic moments. We weren’t trying to create a viral video; we were simply having fun, celebrating dance and enjoying our time at TUT. So to see people connect with that energy from different places is really special. We’re extremely grateful for all the love and support.”
