Margaret Roushar has always loved baseball.
When she was a little girl she’d go to the baseball field in her neighborhood. She’d would always be watching whatever game was happening.
“In fact, whenever my mom couldn’t find me, she would come to the baseball field and that’s where I would be,” Roushar said.
She spoke with the Journal Sentinel at the Game 4 National League Championship Series watch party at American Family Field watch party. Brewers fans packed the stands and watched as the Brew Crew faced off against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sal Anschuetz got into baseball because of her mom, a fandom that stretches back to the Milwaukee Braves.
Anschuetz was growing up in the 1960s, still a few years out before the Seattle Pilots relocated to Cream City. She and her mother would listen to Chicago Cubs games on WGN radio, but that all changed when the Brewers came to town.
“It was the most enormous thing in my family,” she said. “We watched every single game on TV.”
Her mom died a few years ago, but she still remembers all the good times she had. As a kid, that meant doing every players’ batting stance. She said this season’s run is a “joyous and wonderful thing for the city.”
The Brewers are coming off their best season ever. The Brewers are National League Central Champions, they won 103 games and grabbed home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Emma and Jacob Metzer were walking around the Brewers Game 4 watch party with their baby. Emma said her grandmother grew her Brewers fandom.

“We lost her a couple years ago,” Emma said. “She would be absolutely in love with this Brewers team right now. ... We know she is cheering with Ueck right now.”
Longtime Brewers radio announcer Bob Uecker died on Jan. 16, 2025.
Jacob said it was his grandfather who got him into games. Every weekend they’d head over and the Brewers would be on the TV. He said no one game stuck out as the most memorable. He enjoyed all the games his grandfather would take him to. He always had his glove hoping to catch a foul ball.
“I love the Brewers,” Roushar said. “And you know what, they are going to do it. I just feel it. I feel it. This is the year.”
