DAEJEON — Dongin POD, a company based in Daejeon's printing industry cluster, won the silver award in the Digital Calendars category at the 2026 Asian Print Awards held recently in Shanghai, the Daejeon Job & Economy Promotion Agency said on the 21st.
The Asian Print Awards, held since 2001, is a prominent printing industry competition in the Asia-Pacific region that evaluates entries in printing and packaging on criteria including technical quality and creativity.
About 2,000 entries were submitted this year from countries across Asia. Dongin POD entered a desk calendar produced under the theme "Korean Traditional Folk Art: Resplendent Heritage in Digital Embellishment," winning for the second consecutive year after taking a prize last year and earning recognition for its printing technology.
The work was produced through a joint support program run by the Daejeon Job & Economy Promotion Agency's support center for small printing businesses and Mokwon University's RISE and anchor project group. It reinterprets the beauty of traditional Korean culture through modern printing techniques, using digital foil and epoxy to create three-dimensional texture and visual effects on flat printed material. By applying advanced digital printing technology to traditional cultural content, the calendar demonstrated the potential to raise the value of printed products.
"This is recognition of the excellent technical capabilities of Daejeon's small printing businesses and the results of local industry-academia cooperation," said Choi Jae-geun, head of the Daejeon Job & Economy Promotion Agency. "We will support local printing companies so they can combine advanced technology with creative content to develop high-value products and secure competitiveness in domestic and overseas markets."
