A new animal sanctuary is taking shape in Ubeda, Pinoso, with plans to offer a permanent and peaceful home for animals that can be particularly difficult to rehome. Finca Montevida Animal Sanctuary & Retreat will focus on donkeys and elderly cats and dogs, providing long-term care in a rural setting surrounded by almond groves, olive terraces and vines.
Finca Montevida takes shape near Pinoso
Finca Montevida Animal Sanctuary & Retreat is being developed on 50,000 square metres of countryside containing almond groves, olive terraces and vines, surrounded by mountain views.
Founder Tina Bradley is currently working to register the sanctuary as an asociacion protectora de animales, a non-profit animal protection association under Spanish law.
The legal registration process is underway and is expected to take around three months.
Preparations for the sanctuary’s launch are continuing in the meantime, allowing work on the project to move forward while the formal registration process is completed.
Fundraising planned for dedicated donkey enclosure
Fundraising is planned to help create a dedicated enclosure for the donkeys, forming an important part of the new sanctuary.
The extensive rural site is intended to provide the animals with a safe long-term environment where their needs can be met and they can receive ongoing care.
Further information about the fundraising plans and how supporters will be able to contribute is expected to be announced as preparations for the sanctuary progress.
Older cats and dogs offered permanent home
The project will also include a retirement area for elderly cats and dogs, focusing particularly on unwanted older animals that can struggle to find new homes.
The aim is to create a safe long-term environment where animals can receive care in a peaceful rural setting rather than facing an uncertain future because of their age.
By concentrating partly on older animals, Finca Montevida plans to provide another option for cats and dogs whose age can make finding a new permanent home more difficult.
Work is continuing ahead of the sanctuary’s planned launch, with further details about the project, its opening and fundraising activities to be announced as preparations progress.
