CHEONAN — A forum has been set up to explore survival strategies and solutions for South Korea's manufacturing sector amid a global supply chain crisis.
The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology said it will hold the 2026 Korea Circular Economy Festival on the 19th and 20th at El Tower in Yangjae, Seoul, where it will present global supply chain strategies for an era of resource security.
Under the slogan "A New Global Supply Chain Built by the Circular Economy in the Age of Resource Security," the event will bring together about 300 experts from companies and related organizations leading South Korea's key export industries, including automobiles, semiconductors, petrochemicals, robotics and electrical and electronic goods.
The first day opens with the Global Circular Supply Chain Conference, which presented policy and regulatory measures to respond to a tightening trade environment.
On the 20th, nine leading companies putting the circular economy into practice will present case studies. They will share innovative business models tested in industrial settings, covering robot remanufacturing, circular supply chains for electrical and electronic products, shifts to eco-friendly raw materials, chemical recycling of waste plastics, and the regeneration of PET and textiles.
"We will work with companies to resolve the regulatory hurdles, difficulties in securing recycled materials and obstacles to commercialization that they face on the ground, and we will support efforts to win recognition for our circular economy technologies and systems in global markets," said Son Woong-hee, president of the institute.
