Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to the economic empowerment of Mozambican women by participating in the third edition of SÓCIAS – Women in Business Connect, recently held in the city of Beira.
The event brought together women entrepreneurs and businesswomen from different sectors in an environment marked by knowledge-sharing, inspiring stories of overcoming challenges, recognition of women’s talent and the identification of new business opportunities.
Organised by Esperança Matsimbe, founder of the SÓCIAS project and a women’s rights activist, the initiative provided a space for capacity-building, experience-sharing and strengthening collaborative networks. It encouraged participants to turn ideas and small-scale economic activities into structured, sustainable businesses with growth prospects.
A partner of the initiative since its first edition, BCI once again supported the project, continuing a collaboration that reflects its commitment to financial inclusion and to promoting women’s entrepreneurial potential.

On the occasion, Tanya Barbosa stressed that supporting women’s entrepreneurship is a strategic choice for BCI, based on the conviction that Mozambique’s economic progress necessarily depends on women’s increasingly active participation. This vision takes on particular significance in the year the bank celebrates 30 years of activity, during which it has prioritised close relationships with customers and support for the country’s development.
