The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.
From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.
For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from Alabama who has played for Brooklyn.
Our focus in this article is Pete Myers. An alum of Williamson (Mobile) high school and Little Rock, he was picked up with the 12th overall selection of the 1986 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls.
The Mobile native played the first season of his pro career with Chicago. He also played for the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, and New York Knicks before he was claimed on waivers by the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets. His stay with the team lasted until he was cut the next fall.
During his time suiting up for the Nets, Myers put up 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
