Taihan Electric Wire has signed a materials supply contract worth approximately 120 billion won (approximately $88.89 million) for an ultra-high-voltage power grid project in the United States.
On Oct. 15, Taihan Electric Wire announced that T.E.USA, its U.S. subsidiary, had been awarded a local ultra-high-voltage power grid project on a turnkey basis. Under the turnkey model, the local subsidiary oversees the entire project, including engineering and construction, while the parent company's headquarters manufactures and supplies key materials such as ultra-high-voltage cables and accessories. In connection with this arrangement, the headquarters and the U.S. subsidiary entered into a materials supply contract worth approximately 120 billion won and filed the corresponding public disclosure.
Taihan Electric Wire has been delivering consistent results in the U.S. market, having also secured an ultra-high-voltage turnkey project worth approximately 100 billion won (approximately $74.07 million) in the country in January of this year. The company has established a dominant position in high-difficulty technical areas, monopolizing 500kV HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) underground power grid projects within the United States and securing supply rights for 320kV HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) cables.
The U.S. electricity market is currently seeing sustained large-scale investment, driven by the convergence of the replacement cycle for aging power grids and the expansion of new infrastructure. The explosive growth of the AI industry, which has caused electricity demand for data center operations to increase exponentially, is also serving as a key driver of market expansion. In line with these market conditions, Taihan Electric Wire plans to strengthen its dominance in the ultra-high-voltage cable market while broadening its contract portfolio into high-value-added product lines such as HVDC and submarine cables.
The company emphasized that it will leverage this contract as an opportunity to further expand its business prospects within the market, respond promptly to diverse customer needs, and solidify its position in the United States.
However, detailed information including the full contract value and the identity of the project owner has not been disclosed.
