By Zoila Palma: Prime Minister John Briceño is preparing to chair a meeting of more than 50 leaders, many of them finance ministers, focused on delivering results for small states as Belize participates in the 2026 World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a video message to Belizeans, Briceño outlined the importance of turning commitments into meaningful improvements for people in small states.
“In the coming days, I will chair a meeting of more than 50 leaders, many of them finance ministers on delivering for small states,” he said.
He further said, “Our message will be clear, strategies must become action and action must produce results.”
Briceño said Belize’s delegation is working to ensure the country’s needs are heard and addressed during the international meetings. His message places emphasis on practical outcomes, including better jobs, greater opportunities and improved living standards.
The Prime Minister’s participation comes as Belize pursues international financing and partnerships for national priorities, including energy security, agricultural support and solutions to the sargassum crisis.
