A K-Pop girl group idol shared her thoughts on cohabitation before marriage.
On October 19th, a video about dating was uploaded to YouTube on a channel run by Soyou, originally from SISTAR.
In the video, Soyou took time to answer dating concerns sent in by subscribers. One subscriber shared a worry, saying, “My boyfriend doesn’t want to get married but wants to live together and buy a house together. He says he will cover more of the cost but put the ownership in my name. I don’t feel the need to get married, but should I live together?”

Without hesitation, Soyou replied, “Yes.” She explained, “The boyfriend doesn’t necessarily want to marry but wants to cohabit. He’s paying more but wants the ownership in your name—that’s trust. Ownership isn’t something simple. That’s love.”
Soyou added, “I’m someone who believes in cohabitation before marriage. There’s already a plus in that. When you live together, you notice things that are different about each other, and there’s fun in adjusting to those differences.”
She continued, “If you’re compatible in everything, you’ll eventually think about marriage. But if your boyfriend says, ‘I absolutely won’t marry; I only want to cohabit,’ and that doesn’t bother you, then living together might be good. It’s just a long-term relationship that includes living together, right?“
