Michael Carrick has said Manchester United must end "a run we're not happy with at all".
Manchester United are winless in seven games across all competitions and suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League in midweek.
Tensions have come to light following recent comments from players, including Lisandro Martínez and Bruno Fernandes, who have strongly criticised the club's hierarchy.
Fernandes questioned Carrick's tactics during the defeat in Como, with the manager under pressure ahead of this weekend's match against Bournemouth.
Carrick declined to comment on whether he had spoken to Fernandes about his remarks this week, or whether he had considered stripping the 32-year-old of the captaincy.
At his pre-match press conference, Carrick said the Red Devils must bounce back from an "unacceptable" performance in the Champions League.
Manchester United manager Carrick demands a response after Como thrashing: "We've had a run we're not happy with at all".
"I just want to say a few things, really. We haven't had a good time lately. I think that's pretty obvious. So I fully accept what we're going through at the moment."
"We had five months of relative success, a period when I was happy with a lot of what I was seeing and what we were doing as a team."
"Recently we haven't been good enough. We've had a run we're not happy with at all."
"Wednesday was a bad night. It was a bad night for many reasons. It hurt me a lot."
"Obviously it hurt to see how we played, to see how the game unfolded. As I said after the game, it was really unacceptable."
"The fans are a fundamental part of this football club. For them to put in the effort, the time and the money they invest, only to feel what we all felt on Wednesday—it was a very tough moment."
