Canton Network generated more than $155 million in fees during the third quarter of 2026, outperforming other blockchains included in a comparison by CertiK’s Skynet monitoring platform. The figure positions Canton as the leading network in the comparison for the July-September period, highlighting its growing financial activity within the blockchain sector.
CertiK’s Skynet reported the results on Oct. 12, identifying Canton Network as the highest fee generator among the blockchains covered by its analysis. However, the platform did not publish a detailed breakdown of the comparison group or disclose individual fee totals for the other networks.
Canton Network’s reported fee generation of more than $155 million in the third quarter underscores its financial activity and places it ahead of other blockchains included in Skynet’s comparison.
The reported figure provides an indication of the economic activity associated with the network, although the available information does not specify the sources of the fees or the methodology used to calculate the total.
Fee generation offers a measure of blockchain activity
Blockchain fees can provide insight into network usage, transaction demand, and the economic activity supported by a digital ledger. Depending on a network’s design, fees may arise from transactions, smart contract execution, asset transfers or other operations performed through its infrastructure.
However, fee revenue alone does not provide a complete measure of a blockchain’s performance. Network architecture, transaction types, user composition and the way fees are calculated can differ substantially between platforms, making direct comparisons difficult without consistent measurement criteria.
In Canton Network’s case, the reported $155 million total establishes its position within the specific comparison conducted by Skynet. The absence of a complete list of participating networks and their corresponding figures limits the ability to assess the size of Canton’s lead or determine how its fee generation compares with the wider blockchain market.
The report also did not provide a breakdown showing whether the fees came primarily from institutional applications, asset-related transactions or other network activities.
Institutional blockchain infrastructure in focus
Canton Network is associated with blockchain infrastructure designed to support financial markets and institutional use cases. Its positioning within the financial services sector makes measures of network activity particularly relevant to observers assessing the adoption of distributed ledger technology by established financial institutions.
Financial market participants have been exploring blockchain-based systems for applications such as tokenized assets, transaction processing and the coordination of financial activities across different organizations. These initiatives can involve requirements for privacy, controlled access and interoperability that differ from those of public, retail-focused blockchain networks.
For institutional blockchain platforms, sustained fee generation can serve as one indicator of economic activity, but determining the underlying drivers requires additional information about transaction volumes, network participants and the services being used.
The available Skynet report does not establish which specific applications contributed to Canton’s third-quarter total or whether the fees represented an increase over the previous quarter.
Further data needed to assess Canton’s performance
Canton Network’s reported position provides a notable data point in the assessment of blockchain economics during the third quarter of 2026. Nevertheless, additional disclosures would be necessary to establish the reasons behind its performance and evaluate the sustainability of its fee generation.
Quarter-over-quarter comparisons, transaction activity, fee composition, and a transparent list of competing networks would help provide a clearer picture of Canton’s relative position.
Although the reported total places Canton Network at the top of Skynet’s comparison group, further data will be needed to determine how its fee performance reflects broader adoption and long-term demand for its blockchain infrastructure.
