Dubai: Have you ever wished you could change your car’s colour? According to the Dubai Police, you can – all you need is a vehicle colour change permit.
What is a vehicle colour change permit?
The vehicle colour change permit is the first step to updating your car’s colour. It is a document that’s required at certified automotive styling and paint shops around the city, before you begin the process of changing your car’s colour.
The permit ensures legal compliance, and acts as a no-objection letter from the authorities.
Once you receive the permit and update your car’s colour, don’t forget to update your Mulkiya or vehicle registration information, as an accurate vehicle record is important in ensuring your insurance remains valid, and your car passes annual vehicle inspections by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
What documents are required?
According to the Dubai Police website, the vehicle must be registered in Dubai, and the following documents are required before applying for a permit:
- Emirates ID.
- Vehicle registration (Mulkiya).
- Proof of possession or customs document (for non-registered vehicles).
