Channareddy Patil Tunnur, MLA, has appealed to voters to elect Congress candidate Sharanappa Mattur in the upcoming Legislative Council election for the North-Eastern Teachers’ constituency, urging them to cast their first-preference votes in his favour.
Campaigning on Saturday across several educational institutions in the city — including the Jawaharlal Education Institution, Government Degree College, Lingeri Konappa Women’s College, and the Government Women’s Pre-University College — Mr. Tunnur described Mr. Mattur as an experienced leader, dedicated worker, and advocate who understands the concerns of educators.
Highlighting Mr. Mattur’s previous six-year tenure as an MLC, the MLA noted that the candidate had spearheaded notable developmental work during his term. He added that Mr. Mattur would work closely with the State government to address the long-standing demands and challenges faced by permanent and guest teachers, as well as lecturers and guest lecturers.
”I will remain stationed right here to listen to the grievances of the district’s voters, and together, we will ensure that all the legitimate concerns of this constituency are resolved,” Mr. Tunnur said, urging the electorate to back the Congress candidate.
District Congress spokesperson Samson Malikeri, speaking in the introductory remarks, termed the election an “intellectual exercise” and emphasised that Mr. Mattur has consistently responded to teachers’ issues, making him the ideal candidate for the October 23 polls.
Congress leaders Saibanna Kenguri, Mareppa Bilhar, Moinuddin Mirchi, Parvesh Kadloor, and Mallikarjun Eete were present during the campaign trail.
