Bermudian tennis player Zachary McGuire recorded two singles victories and two doubles wins for Sacred Heart University at the Army Invitational in West Point, New York.
The freshman and Saltus Grammar School alumnus won both his singles matches during the October 3–4 competition.
McGuire came from a set down to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Asaf Schwartz on Saturday. After losing the opening set, he won the second before taking the deciding match tie-break to secure a 3-6, 7-5, 10-4 victory.
He followed that result with a straight-sets win over Holy Cross’ Colton Parker on Sunday, winning 6-4, 6-2.
McGuire also collected two doubles victories. Army’s results recorded a doubles defeat for McGuire and partner Ferdinand Witting, who lost 6-2 to Matías Feoli and Alan Ton.
