Signiel Seoul said on the 19th that it is showing six major works by Korean contemporary painter Kwon Oh-bong in the hotel's main public spaces and restaurants through Feb. 17 next year, in a collaboration with Woosson Gallery.
Kwon has built a distinctive body of work known as "scribble painting," based on free-flowing lines and improvised expression. He is known for using nails and farm-tool hooks instead of brushes. The exhibition features works that reflect the artist's exploration of line and painting over more than four decades.
Kwon held his first solo exhibition at the Donon Gallery in Tokyo in 1985 and has since worked in Seoul, Daegu, Germany and Paris. In 2023, he received the 24th Lee In-sung Art Prize.
Signiel Seoul has been expanding in-house exhibitions through partnerships with well-known artists at home and abroad and with cultural and arts institutions. "We will continue to work with the arts community to offer differentiated cultural content," an official at Signiel Seoul said.
