Barbara Edmonds’ vow to address what’s holding Kiwi businesses back.
Small Kiwi businesses will be helped to grow and invest more into New Zealand if Labour leads the next government, the party’s finance spokesperson Barbara Edmonds says.
The comments came earlier this month as Edmonds faced off with her National counterpart Nicola Willis at Beyond the Ballot 2026, an election debate on the economy, finance and business policy co-hosted by MYOB and NZME, with around 100 business leaders and SME owners in the room.
Edmonds noted prices had been rising twice as fast as pay (4.1% compared to 2%), and that businesses had been closing at the fastest rate in 15 years. She said Labour would back Kiwi businesses to “get ahead, to invest, to grow and create good jobs” if elected into government.
