- Summer House star Ciara Miller was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars in week four after scoring 21/30 on their Mariah Carey Night performance, shocking fans and fellow cast members.
- Despite her emotional elimination on October 6, Ciara reflected positively on learning to embrace imperfection and step outside her comfort zone during her time on the competition show.
- Her former Summer House co-stars Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner debated the show’s voting fairness after her elimination—here’s what they had to say.
Fine, I’ll say it: Ciara Miller was gone from Dancing With the Stars too soon. The Summer House star and her partner, Brandon Armstrong, were eliminated four weeks into the competition after their Mariah Carey Night performance of “Emotions” scored 21/30.
Since receiving one of the night’s higher scores, her exit came as a shock to many—including her friends and former Summer House co-stars, Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner. The girls reacted to Ciara’s elimination on the October 9 episode of their pod, Giggly Squad, and let’s just say there’s nothing “giggly” about it.
“I knew that was a fuck ass show,” Paige started, before Hannah opened up a debate about whether DWTS’s voting system is “rigged.”
“I don’t know if it’s rigged. Even though it is weird that they’re like, ‘We’re not going to tell you the algorithm or how we did it, and we’re not going to tell you who’s actually in the bottom three,’” Hannah explained.
She added that the contestants are scored on different types of ballroom techniques each week, making it an uneven playing field.
“Everyone does a different dance, so it’s like you’re not even rated on the same dances,” she shared. “Everyone has a different pro who all have different levels of popularity.”
Hannah also suggested that misogyny comes into play as viewers vote for who remains in the competition, adding, “And everyone hates women, so we’re fighting that. I don’t watch the other dancers, so I’m completely unbiased, but just by the looks, I know my girl was better based on who was in the bottom with her.”
Paige came in hot while defending her friend, saying, “If I’m a producer on that show, I’m like, ‘Hey, maybe we keep the really hot girl. Maybe this is what the fans want to see.’”
Ciara got emotional after her elimination on October 6, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I mean, I’m sad obviously, I’m bummed. Yeah, I’m processing, you know? But bummed to say the least.”
She also revealed the biggest lesson she learned from the show, adding, “The ability to come out here and not be perfect, I think. It’s easy to be in the public eye and only want to present the most perfect side of yourself. So this is definitely a fun experience to get out of that comfort zone.”
All in all, Hannah stood ten toes down in her support for Ciara, saying, “She did fucking amazing, and she was only getting better. Now I hope she goes on bed rest.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
