(ANSA) - ROMA, 16 OTT - Promoting Italian expertise in the cybersecurity sector and deepening the dialogue on emerging challenges in cyber diplomacy were the objectives of the visit to Singapore, from October 14 to 16, by Minister Plenipotentiary Alessandro De Pedys, Director General for Cyber Affairs, Information Technology, and Technological Innovation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) 2026. The Italian pavilion at SICW—one of the leading international events dedicated to cybersecurity, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina) in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN)—brought together eight Italian companies interested in developing new business opportunities and partnerships in Singapore and Southeast Asia. As part of the event, De Pedys participated in the panel discussion “Italy’s Experience in Strengthening the National Cybersecurity Ecosystem,” alongside Luca Nicoletti of the ACN and Sergio Strozzi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which focused on Italy’s experience in strengthening the national cybersecurity ecosystem. Italy’s contribution to the international debate continued during the fair’s high-level sessions on diplomacy, with De Pedys participating in the panel “Algorithms and Alliances: Will AI Take Over Cyber Diplomacy?”, which focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on cyber diplomacy and the new challenges for international relations.
The mission included meetings with representatives of Singaporean institutions and participation in the sixth edition of the Counter Ransomware Initiative, aimed at strengthening international coordination against ransomware attacks and addressing new threats linked to technological advancements.
Rounding out the program was De Pedys’ participation in a roundtable discussion on strategic communication and combating disinformation, hosted by Italian Ambassador Dante Brandi at the embassy, as well as a visit to the “Abito” exhibition, held at the National Gallery Singapore and presented abroad for the first time, which explores the dialogue between fashion, architecture, and interior design as an expression of Italian creativity.
