Ride-hailing platform inDrive has defended its commission policy in Nigeria, claiming it charges the lowest service fee in the industry as concerns persist over drivers’ earnings, fares and welfare.
According to News Tellers, the company said its low-commission model was intended to enable drivers to retain more of their income amid the country’s economic challenges.
In a statement by its Country Director, Timothy Oladimeji, inDrive said its support for drivers extended beyond service charges to initiatives focused on increasing earnings, improving healthcare access and providing insurance-related services.
The company disclosed that drivers using eligible vehicles manufactured from 2008 onwards could earn 30 per cent more on qualifying trips through its Comfort module.

According to inDrive, the initiative is designed to create additional earning opportunities for drivers while giving passengers access to more transportation options.
The company also announced partnerships with Heala and MyCover to improve drivers’ access to healthcare and insurance services.
It said the collaborations were part of efforts to address welfare concerns and create a more supportive environment for drivers using the platform.
On safety and accountability, inDrive said it was strengthening engagement with drivers, passengers, regulators and other stakeholders in Nigeria’s ride-hailing sector.
The company cited its third Safety Summit, recently held in Abuja, as part of its efforts to promote collaboration and build trust across the industry.
The summit brought together drivers, passengers, couriers, merchants, regulators and other stakeholders to discuss safety concerns and measures to improve accountability.
Reaffirming its position, inDrive said it would sustain its low service fee, introduce initiatives to improve drivers’ earnings and welfare, and invest in safety and service delivery.
