Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has assured President Bola Tinubu that the people of the state will massively vote for him in the 2027 general election.
Mr Yusuf gave the assurance on Wednesday during the inauguration of the first 118-kilometre section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway at Tamburawa, in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State.
The governor said the people of Kano would support Mr Tinubu at the polls because of the development projects being executed by the Federal Government in the state.
According to him, since his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the president has approved projects worth more than N9 trillion for Kano State.
He said the development projects had underscored the importance of his decision to join the ruling party.
Mr Yusuf, however, appealed to the Federal Government to ensure the timely completion of ongoing road projects in the state.
He assured the president of Kano’s support in the 2027 election, saying the people would reward the administration for its development efforts.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the Tinubu administration had completed nearly 400 kilometres of inherited and newly initiated road projects across the North-West within three years.
Mr Umahi said several of the projects were inherited from the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, while the current government had also executed more than 149 emergency road projects in the region.
He said the Federal Government had completed the 81-kilometre reinforced concrete pavement section of the Abuja-Kaduna highway, while work on the second section, covering 164 kilometres, had reached 148 kilometres.
According to the minister, less than 20 kilometres remained on the second section.
He said Mr Tinubu had also directed the installation of solar-powered streetlights along the entire 375-kilometre Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway to improve visibility and enhance road safety, particularly at night.
Mr Umahi listed other major road projects in the region to include the 350-kilometre Sokoto-Zamfara-Zaria road, the 132-kilometre Kano-Kongolam road, the 159-kilometre Zaria-Hunkuyi road and the proposed 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry highway.
He added that the Federal Government was also executing the Kano Northern Bypass and other internal road projects to ease movement within the state and improve connections with neighbouring communities.
The minister said completing the remaining sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway would improve connectivity, ease the movement of goods and passengers, and stimulate economic activities across Northern Nigeria.
He urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s economic reforms, saying the measures were beginning to yield benefits.
