Former NBA player Enes Kanter gets roasted for his latest WNBA Finals plans.
The 2026 WNBA Finals are officially underway, with the Atlanta Dream suffering a 68-64 defeat against the Golden State Valkyries in Game 1.
The Dream will hope to level the series at 1-1 at Chase Center before the series moves to Atlanta for Games 3 and 4.
Speaking of which, controversial former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has announced that he plans to attend one of Atlanta’s home games, which has drawn harsh criticism from WNBA fans.
Darnell Smith lashes out at Enes Kanter’s WNBA Finals revelation
In a now-viral announcement, Kanter announced his agenda for attending Game 3 in Atlanta. First, he wants to see Gabby Williams, due to the Valkyries star’s claim of having no problem with transgender athletes playing in the league.
Second, Kanter mocked Angel Reese and wanted to learn how to finish a layup from her. Finally, Kanter also teased about wearing a very unique T-shirt, despite wreaking havoc in a Chicago Sky game with his previous T-shirt.
Upon seeing his points, former NCAAF player Darnell Smith called Kanter’s continued shots at the W, ‘lame.’
“This is lame. You made your point. But now you’re just trying to leverage the WNBA in order to keep your name in the mix, because otherwise nobody would even mention you,” Smith responded on X.
He added, “Stop taking attention away from the WNBA Finals if you really care about women.”
While the potential participation of transgender athletes in the WNBA has become a huge discussion point around the league, Kanter refuses to let the debate die down on its own.
As Smith pointed out, Kanter brewing more trouble at Game 3 of the 2026 WNBA Finals will do more harm than good for the league. But it seems like the ex-NBA player doesn’t have any plans to cancel his visit to the State Farm Arena on October 21, 2026.
