Agartala, October 12, 2026: Three youths from Tripura have secured overseas employment after completing skill development training under the Mukhyamantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa (MMDUP), a State Government initiative aimed at enhancing employability among young people.
The candidates, trained at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Agartala, have been selected by Balmer Lawrie as Machine Operators for its manufacturing operations in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The selected candidates are Abhoy Debnath of Chandrapur in Agartala, Sanjit Das of Moharcharra in Teliamura and Ripan Das of Udaipur. Their selection marks an overseas employment opportunity following specialised vocational training in the petrochemical sector.
According to the information provided by the Directorate of Skill Development, the candidates underwent an intensive 80-day training programme comprising 480 hours of instruction. The course focused on practical machine operation and petrochemical manufacturing skills required for industrial employment.
The programme was implemented at CIPET Agartala under MMDUP, which is being carried out through the Directorate of Skill Development to prepare young people for employment by equipping them with industry-oriented skills.
The candidates are expected to receive an initial monthly salary of around ₹65,000, which could increase to approximately ₹96,000 after six months, subject to performance-based increments.
The overseas placements highlight the potential of skill-based training to connect Tripura’s youth with employment opportunities beyond the State and the country. The programme seeks to bridge the gap between vocational training and industry requirements by providing hands-on experience relevant to actual workplace conditions.
The Directorate of Skill Development has congratulated the selected candidates and encouraged more young people across Tripura to take advantage of the training opportunities available under MMDUP to improve their employment prospects in India and abroad.
