- The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback is the latest and final special edition in the brand’s yearlong “Twelve 4 Twelve” campaign of Wranglers.
- The Switchback swaps black and gray components to create a contrasting look, similar to the builds that some owners create.
- The Switchback will be available in two- and four-door configurations (priced at $66,695 and $69,995, respectively) and is based on the Wrangler Rubicon X trim.
Whether by choice or necessity, it’s not terribly uncommon to see Jeep Wrangler models with body panels that don’t perfectly match. A bad enough scrape while off-roading might necessitate a new door for one owner, while another owner might just like the multicolored look. The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback employs the latter mindset and comes with a multicolored look from the factory.

The Switchback is the last hurrah of special-edition Wranglers in Jeep’s “Twelve 4 Twelve” campaign, which saw the brand release one unique Wrangler every month for a year. Based on the Rubicon X trim, this special edition can be ordered in a handful of ways. For starters, owners can spec the Switchback in either two- or four-door configurations, though the real differentiator will be the contrasting color schemes.
To create the Switchback models, Jeep sequenced Gloss Black and Sting-Gray Wranglers one after the other on the production line—then the automaker swapped the doors around during the normal production and switched the hoods during upfitting. The result is some Wranglers with gray bodywork, black doors, and a black hood, and some Wranglers with black bodywork, gray doors, and a gray hood.
Along with the contrasting bodywork, the Switchback gets a bit of flair from its Gecko accents on the grille, wheel rings, hood graphic, and swing-gate decal. Lime stitching in the interior finishes out the look. The rest of the interior is finished with nappa leather, Sea Salt accents, and a handful of Switchback-specific graphics.

The Switchback will be available to order starting in November, with the special-edition package adding $2870 to the price of a Rubicon X. That means $66,695 for the two-door models and $69,995 for the four-door variants.
