A political face-off has erupted at Jawaharlal Nehru University as campus walls became a battleground for left and right-wing student groups. The controversy began after left-wing outfits, including AISA, painted slogans such as 'Free Umar Khalid' on university buildings. In response, right-wing students linked to the ABVP wrote counter-slogans, including 'Never free Umar Khalid,' 'Stop Love Jihad,' and 'Akhand Bharat.' Air Show Creating 'Package Of Confidence' In UP: Badri Narayan
Speaking to India Today, political analyst Badri Narayan analysed the political and social impact of the Indian Air Force's 94th anniversary air show, 'Wings Over the Ganga', held in Varanasi alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. Narayan noted that the event, coupled with the inauguration of a textile factory and a roadshow, represents a major moment for Uttar Pradesh politics by combining livelihood generation with public outreach. Describing the display as a "package of confidence", Narayan highlighted that it reinforces national feeling and demonstrates expanding defence infrastructure and capabilities. He further explained that such initiatives promote "developmental politics" by addressing the needs of women, marginalised groups, and job seekers. According to Narayan, linking the beauty of the Ganga with the skies not only sparks widespread curiosity among citizens but also fosters a broader sense of national resurgence ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.
PM Modi In Varanasi For IAF Air Show At Namo Ghat Ahead Of UP Polls
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Indian Air Force air show held over the Ganga at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, celebrating 94 years of the force with 94 aircraft performing aerobatic formations. Political analysts noted that the event coincides with heightened activity across Purvanchal, where senior party leaders plan further visits to consolidate electoral support in areas outside Varanasi.
World Needs To Learn From Us How To Start And Stop War: Grp Capt MJ Augustine Vinod
Speaking on the Indian Air Force's 94th anniversary celebrations in Varanasi, defence expert Group Captain MJ Augustine Vinod (Retd) highlighted the outreach and significance of large-scale aerial displays over the Ganga. He noted that such displays showcase India's air power, pointing out that few countries field large aerobatic formations like the nine-aircraft Suryakiran team. Recalling past military actions including Operation Sindoor, he asserted: "World needs to learn from us how to start and stop the war when you have a clear-cut aim already set." He explained that the deployment of diverse aircraft—spanning tactical and strategic transport fleets like the C-17 to fighter jets—demonstrates vertical envelopment capabilities to citizens and global observers, including regional adversaries. Group Captain Vinod also emphasised that air shows inspire youth to pursue careers as aviators and deepen public understanding of the nation's military strength.
