The Northern Hemisphere winter season has officially started, and from today, airlines will switch to their winter schedules. The Irish low-cost carrier, Ryanair, is preparing to introduce more than 45 new nonstop routes over the following three days.
In fact, for this winter, the budget carrier has announced at least 140 new routes and is offering nearly 80 million seats across Europe. It is expanding into several markets, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, and Morocco in North Africa.
Ryanair Launches 7 New Poland–Italy Routes In 3 Days
There will be some interesting additions to the Poland-Italy market. For the Winter 2026/27 season, Ryanair is introducing 13 brand-new direct routes between the two countries. Four routes start today, October 25, and three more launch over the next two days. Today, the low-cost carrier is commencing new services from Warsaw Chopin to Catania , Bari , and Venice . Gdansk is also gaining a new service to Milan Malpensa .
On Monday, it will launch a three-weekly service from Warsaw to Bologna , followed on Tuesday by three-weekly flights from Gdansk to Catania and Kraków to Venice. New services to Naples, Turin and Palermo are also planned. Lately, the Irish budget airline has been moving aircraft away from markets where higher aviation taxes and operating costs make its operations less attractive. Germany and Belgium are among the markets where it has been closing bases and cutting capacity.

In contrast, several Italian regions have abolished their $7.28 (€6.50) municipal passenger tax. Ryanair is therefore deploying aircraft in these lower-cost markets. Indeed, Poland has become a major beneficiary. Industry data shows Poland is the fastest-growing aviation market among Europe's ten largest countries this winter, with total capacity up more than 12%.
Ryanair Is Strengthening Its Position In Morocco With 8 New Routes
Additionally, Ryanair will add more services to the Moroccan market, further strengthening its position. The airline is introducing eight new routes to the North African country, including services from Rabat to Stockholm and Kraków, Marrakesh to Wroclaw and Karlsruhe, and Agadir to Milan, Nuremberg, Bratislava and Gdańsk. Overall, for the Winter 2026/27 season, it will connect 13 Moroccan airports with destinations in 14 countries.
In fact, the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) expects its capacity to rise by 580,000 seats, or 12%, compared with the previous season. Indeed, this expansion will be supported by 16 aircraft based across Morocco, including two at the airline's new Rabat base (its fifth in Morocco), which opened in April. Over the years, the Irish budget carrier has expanded its presence in Morocco. It first entered the market in 2006, when the European Union and Morocco signed an Open Skies agreement that eased traditional restrictions on air services and allowed European low-cost carriers to expand their operations in the country.

Initially, it served three Moroccan destinations: Marrakesh, Fez and Oujda. Over the past two decades, it has expanded considerably, and its network now comprises 156 routes. It wouldn't be surprising to see Ryanair add more routes to the country in the coming years, as it looks to establish Morocco as its primary winter stronghold outside Europe.
Additionally, the country is co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, and in anticipation, the Moroccan government has introduced an aviation and tourism roadmap aimed at doubling annual visitor numbers. Ryanair has also partnered with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) to support the country's tourism ambitions and expand its operations as demand grows.
Ryanair Launches Its Largest-Ever UK Winter Schedule
Elsewhere, the UK is another market where the Irish low-cost carrier is expanding this winter. Italy remains its busiest market, but the UK will be its second-busiest. It is launching its largest-ever winter schedule in the country, offering a record 435 routes across eight airports, including 22 brand-new services.
Of course,
London Stansted Airport (STN) remains at the core of its UK operations. The airline offers an average of 1,224 weekly departures from the airport and is adding new routes to Glasgow, Malmö, Sweden, and Parma, Italy. London Luton is also gaining a new service to Venice. Further north, Birmingham International Airport(BHX) is receiving a ninth-based aircraft as part of a $900 million investment.
This will support five new winter routes to Copenhagen, Rome Fiumicino, Warsaw, Modlin, Marrakesh, and Tirana. In the Scottish capital, Ryanair is also increasing its winter network capacity by 11%. The airline will offer 46 routes from Edinburgh, including three new connections to Milan, Tirana, and Warsaw.
