The passion, rhythm and intensity of Spanish flamenco will take centre stage at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa on Saturday, October 24, at 7pm, with a performance of Alma Flamenca.
Led by acclaimed dancer and choreographer Jesus Herrera, the show promises an evening celebrating the rich traditions of flamenco through dance, live music and powerful vocal performances.
Recognised for his ability to combine traditional flamenco with classical and contemporary influences, Herrera brings his distinctive artistic vision to a production exploring some of the genre’s most expressive styles.
Audiences can expect a journey through the strength of the farruca, the elegance of the caña, the lively rhythms of the alegrías, the emotional depth of the taranto and the purity of the soleá.
The performance will also feature virtuoso guitar solos and traditional flamenco singing, culminating in a lively fin de fiesta, the celebratory finale that brings performers together on stage.
Joining Herrera are dancer Lola Jaramilla, singer Cristina Tóvar, percussionist Paco Vega on the cajón, and guitarist José Pérez.
Together, the five performers will showcase the close relationship between dance, singing and instrumental music that lies at the heart of flamenco.
Organised by Lagoa Municipality, the performance forms part of the town’s cultural programme, bringing international artistic traditions to Algarve audiences.
Tickets cost €10, with discounts available to holders of Lagoa’s Cultural Passport.
Tickets can be purchased through the municipality’s online ticketing platform, as well as at CTT, Fnac and Worten outlets.
They are also available at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, Convento de São José Cultural Centre and Lagoa Town Hall’s public service desk.
