Callum Turner and Jack Lowden are on the shortlist of candidates being considered for the role of James Bond, with final screen tests for the next 007 film expected to begin this week.
According to sources, the tests could begin as early as today (23 October) and continue into next week, reports Variety. However, the final lineup of actors remains unclear.
British actor Turner, known for his roles in "Fantastic Beasts" and "Masters of the Air", emerged as a favourite for the iconic spy role earlier this year.
Scottish actor Lowden, who stars in the spy drama "Slow Horses", has also gained attention amid speculation about the casting.
No comments from the representatives of Turner, Lowden, and Amazon MGM are available yet.
"Sinners" star Jack O'Connell was also rumoured to initially be in the mix, but that is apparently not the case, sources said. And despite some media reports, "Euphoria" and "Frankenstein" star Jacob Elordi is not stepping in front of the camera for the screen tests.
The search for Daniel Craig's successor has intensified in recent months, with several actors linked to the role. Craig last played Bond in "No Time to Die", released in 2021.
Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, with casting director Nina Gold overseeing the audition process. Steven Knight, creator of "Peaky Blinders", is writing the screenplay.
Amazon MGM Studios has not announced a timeline for the casting decision, although the next Bond is expected to be revealed before the end of 2026.
