Former Minister and Congress leader K. Babu on Wednesday testified before the Kottarakkara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court that the allegations against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy were entirely fabricated as part of a political conspiracy orchestrated by former minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar. The testimony was recorded in a lawsuit filed by advocate Sudheer Jacob regarding the alleged plot behind the solar scam.
Mr. Babu testified that following K.B. Ganesh Kumar’s resignation from the cabinet over domestic disputes, Oommen Chandy declined to reinduct him due to objections from his father, R. Balakrishna Pillai, and a complaint from Biju Radhakrishnan, husband of Saritha S. Nair.
He said that agrieved by his exclusion from the cabinet, Ganesh Kumar allegedly conspired to target Oommen Chandy. He added that Ganesh Kumar made several moves against Oommen Chandy and the UDF government after realizing that he would not be taken back into the cabinet,. According to Babu, Saritha S. Nair had initially authored a 21-page letter while in custody, but a forged 25-page document containing fabricated allegations against Oommen Chandy was later submitted to the Solar Judicial Commission.
Mr Babu stated that the extra pages were forged in collusion with Ganesh Kumar to fabricate serious allegations against Oommen Chandy and others. He emphasized that although these forged pages led to severe remarks against Oommen Chandy in the solar commission report, the Kerala High Court later expunged those remarks, and investigative agencies including the CBI subsequently dismissed all allegations as baseless.
