ⓘ Honor
More specs of Honor’s upcoming gaming tablet, the Win Pad, have leaked out along with an official picture. The slate is shaping up to be rather remarkable, with high refresh rate OLED screen, and a cooling fan.
A compact Honor Win Pad gaming tablet is reportedly launching in October, and previous rumors indicate that it will run on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, as well as sport a screen refresh rate higher than 200 Hz.
According to the latest leak, the Win Pad sports a compact 8.4-inch OLED screen with a blazing fast 240 Hz refresh rate. The tipster shared that it will come in black and silver colors and that there will be no 5G version.
Honor's product head has shared a photo of the tablet's front and a screenshot showing four selectable refresh rate modes. The top one appears to start with a 2, which fits the 240 Hz claim, although the image is blurry. The same settings menu reportedly lists a cooling fan indeed, as well as customizable ambient lighting. The tablet has now been listed on JD.com with a teaser image and reservations opening on October 16, and it is said to launch alongside a slate in the iQOO Pad Pro series.
The Win Pad is not the only Honor device with a fan, as the company already launched the Magic9 Super Edition handset. The upcoming Win 2 series phones are tipped to pair a large fan with a big vapor chamber, too.
Compact gaming tablets are still a small group, and Lenovo's Legion Y700 line, for instance, has stuck with an 8.8-inch LCD and refresh rates well below 240 Hz. An OLED panel at that refresh rate, combined with an active cooling fan, would give the Win Pad two notable advantages, at least on paper.
The smaller 8.4-inch screen could also appeal to those who want something closer to a handheld. In fact, Honor’s product manager, who shared the tablet’s image, urged fans to try it out, as "the grip feels amazing!" Honor has not confirmed the battery size, pricing, RAM options, or global availability, but its past products of the series have mostly stayed in China.
