Morpho Midnight, the fixed-rate lending arm of the Morpho network, has passed $100 million in total deposits. The milestone landed on or before October 23, 2026, roughly three months after the protocol went live.
How Midnight works, and why it differs from the rest of Morpho
Morpho Midnight sits in the fixed-rate camp. It launched on July 21, 2026, primarily on Base, and later added support for Ethereum.
It runs alongside Morpho Blue, the network’s variable-rate protocol. So Morpho now offers both flavors under one roof: the floating rate and the locked one.
The mechanics revolve around isolated markets and an offer book. Instead of a single algorithm setting the rate for everyone, participants post offers that spell out their own terms directly, including rates and maturities.
Two design choices stand out. First, offers are intent-based, meaning capital only gets locked once an offer is actually matched. Your money is not frozen while it waits for a counterparty to show up.
Second, the protocol uses what it calls lend callbacks. While a lender’s offer sits unmatched, that capital can keep earning variable yield on Morpho Blue.
The numbers, and the asterisk attached to them
The $100 million figure is the protocol’s own deposit count. DefiLlama reported total value locked of approximately $19.5 million for Morpho Midnight as of October 22, 2026.
The difference likely comes down to how each side measures things. “Deposits” and “TVL” sound interchangeable, but they are not always counted the same way, especially in a design where offers can exist without capital being locked until a match occurs.
For broader context, Morpho as a whole surpassed $14 billion in deposits earlier in 2026. Midnight’s $100 million is a small sliver of that pie, which is roughly what you would expect from a product that has been live for about a quarter.
Coinbase and Robinhood in the mix
Coinbase now offers fixed-rate Bitcoin-backed loans through Morpho Midnight. That sits on top of Coinbase’s existing variable-rate lending on Morpho Blue, which has facilitated over $1.4 billion in loans.
Robinhood has also been cited as a platform supporting Morpho, contributing to the network’s overall deposit growth.
What this means for DeFi lending
There are open questions. The gap between the $100 million deposit figure and DefiLlama’s roughly $19.5 million TVL reading means observers will want to track both metrics over time to see whether locked capital catches up to headline deposits.
The lend callback feature is Morpho’s answer to the liquidity problem, letting lenders post offers without sacrificing yield while they wait.
