Vizag Brahmin Welfare Society has expressed its strong displeasure over the political parties, particularly the NDA, for not allocating the due share of corporator seats to the community in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections.
Despite the Brahmin community having over two lakh votes, the community has been totally ignored by the political parties, and the wards that are unreserved are also being given away to those that have reservations, the Society president K. Charan Kumar said in a release on Saturday.
Mr. Charan Kumar noted that the city had illustrious personalities like Tenneti Viswanadham, Battam Sriram Murthy, Dronamraju Satyanarayana, D.V. Subba Rao, Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, and others who have set an example to lead an exemplary life in politics.
They are remembered even today for their honesty and integrity, he said and asked all political parties, including the YSRCP, not to ignore the Brahmin community in elections.
