Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are undoubtedly two of the greatest golfers ever to have graced the game.
Mickelson has 45 PGA Tour wins to his name, including six major championships.
Meanwhile, McIlroy has won 30 PGA Tour titles, 21 DP World Tour events and also has six majors to his name.
Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are at completely different stages of their careers right now, and the former has undeniably damaged his legacy after his move to join LIV Golf from the PGA Tour in 2022.
In spite of that, Mickelson is still widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, while McIlroy is still building on his legacy.
John Daly has played against both the American and the Northern Irishman throughout his time in the game.
And the man known as the ‘Wild Thing’ once gave his honest opinion on the duo as golfers.
John Daly revealed how he truly feels about Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy
Back in 2024, Daly made an appearance on the Graham Bensinger podcast.

He was asked to share his feelings on numerous PGA Tour and LIV Golf players.
While Daly isn’t particularly close with either Mickelson or McIlroy, he did reveal how he honestly feels about both players.
On Mickelson, Daly said: “He is pretty much a legend on the Tour now. I am sure deep in his mind he thought he may never win one, because it came late in his career.
“I don’t really know Phil that well, when I have talked to him, he has always been nice to me and Amy is just a sweetheart.“
Then Daly was asked about Rory McIlroy.
“We say hi every now and again, but it was phenomenal what he did at Kiawah Island,“ the two-time major winner said.
“The guy has got all the talent in the world, he is going to win a lot more.“
Daly was certainly right about McIlroy. Since the above interview, the Northern Irishman has gone on to win two Masters titles and he completed the career Grand Slam in the process.
McIlroy may well go on to achieve even more success than Phil Mickelson has throughout his career, and he has already done what the left-handed American never could by winning all four majors.
