The Adani Group has put on hold its plan to shift 30% of international flight slots at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Navi Mumbai International Airport, with no transfers planned for the upcoming winter schedule.
The proposed shift has been deferred to the summer schedule, which begins on March 28, 2027.
This was the outcome of a consultative meeting between the two sides today (October 13, 2026), after the Centre was forced to intervene in the standoff.
“They have assured the airline community of minimisation of disruption and have assured them of fully respecting historical slots allocations. They have further given a commitment not to disturb any slots for the winter schedule,” Adani Airports Holding Limited said in a press statement about a meeting with its Director, Jeet Adani and CEO Arun Bansal.
The group has said it has secured commitments from international airlines to support the plan for the summer schedule.
The move follows a standoff between the Adani Group and international airlines over what carriers described as a “forceful” transfer of 30% of Mumbai’s international slots to Navi Mumbai. The International Air Transport Association (IATA), which represents global airlines, had called for a consultative approach and alternatives to cutting existing slots, sufficient time for making the transition, warning that the move could affect international connectivity to and from Mumbai, India’s financial capital.
MIAL had recently proposed that approximately one-third of each carrier’s passenger and cargo air traffic movements be transferred from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai from October 1, 2026. This was to ostensibly cater for redevelopment of T1, from which some domestic flights would be shifted to T2, and international flights from T2 be shifted to Navi Mumbai.
The ensuing standoff prompted the Ministry of Civil Aviation to intervene, asking the airport operator to defer the plan and convene a consultative meeting, scheduled for today.
