Galadima Aminu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Adamawa State, has welcomed the defection of all 21 Local Government Council Chairmen and their council members in the state to the party
The Chairmen and Councillors were elected early this year into office, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
He described the development as a big sign that the hitherto tense Adamawa political atmosphere is easing off, signalling an easy ride to power by the APC
Aminu, in a statement signed by his Media aide, Adamu Sambo, described their decision as timely, well-considered and a significant step towards strengthening the party’s unity, political dominance and electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Adamawa governorship hopeful described the decision of the chairmen as a demonstration of political maturity, courage and a clear appreciation of the evolving political realities in Adamawa State and Nigeria.
He congratulated them for what he called a decision that reflects sound judgment, a commitment to the collective interest of the state and a willingness to identify with the right political platform that offers a common vision for progress and development.
According to him, the defection represents more than a change of political affiliation; it signals a growing consensus around the leadership, direction and aspirations of the APC, as well as renewed confidence in the party’s capacity to consolidate its gains and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.

The APC Governorship Candidate particularly commended the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his political sagacity, inclusive leadership and remarkable ability to build bridges, inspire confidence and galvanise support across political divides.
He described Governor Fintiri as a leader of unstoppable energy, relentless determination and ever-advancing political momentum, whose commitment to moving Adamawa State forward continues to attract wider support and strengthen the APC’s position in the state.
The former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund also noted that the governor’s leadership and political engagements have created a new atmosphere of unity, confidence and shared purpose within the party, adding that the decision of the 21 council chairmen underscores the growing appeal of the APC under his leadership.
He further described the development as a practical demonstration of genuine commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the collective determination to secure greater electoral success for the APC at all levels in 2027.
According to him, the convergence of political leaders and grassroots structures under one platform presents an opportunity to deepen cooperation, strengthen governance and build a more formidable political organisation capable of responding effectively to the aspirations of the people.
“The defection of all 21 Local Government Council Chairmen is a major political development for our party and a strong indication of the direction in which Adamawa State is moving. I congratulate the chairmen for taking this bold, timely and well-considered decision. Their choice reflects political foresight and an understanding that the future of our state is best served by unity, purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to development,” Galadima Aminu said.
He added that Governor Fintiri’s ability to bring political leaders together and expand the APC’s support base has further strengthened the party’s standing ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The candidate expressed confidence that the development has substantially altered the political landscape in Adamawa State, leaving the APC in a stronger position and presenting the opposition with a formidable challenge in 2027. He maintained that APC candidates, supported by a united party structure and a growing coalition of political stakeholders, would be strong contenders in the forthcoming elections.
The APC candidate, however, emphasised that the significance of the development must extend beyond electoral calculations and urged party leaders, elected officials, stakeholders and supporters to see the growing unity within the APC as an opportunity to promote peace, strengthen democratic participation and place the welfare of Adamawa people at the centre of political engagement.
The candidate also described the party as a broad and inclusive political family that welcomes all Nigerians who genuinely desire progress, stability, good governance and national development.
“The APC is home to all who mean well for Adamawa State and Nigeria. There is room in our party for every sincere leader, every committed stakeholder and every citizen who shares our determination to build a stronger, more prosperous and more inclusive society
“We welcome our new members with open arms and assure them that they will find a platform for meaningful participation, cooperation and service to our people,” he stated.
He called on all members of the APC, old and new, to close ranks, put aside personal differences and work together in the collective interest of the party and the state.
He stressed that APC’s strength lies not merely in its numbers but in the unity of purpose, discipline, mutual respect and commitment to the people that its members bring to the table.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to working with Governor Fintiri, the party leadership, the newly welcomed council chairmen and other stakeholders to advance the vision of a greater Adamawa State where development is sustained, opportunities are expanded, and every citizen has a stake in the state’s progress.
He expressed optimism that the growing cohesion within the APC would translate into greater political success in 2027 and, more importantly, a renewed commitment to delivering prosperity, security, inclusion and sustainable development for the people of Adamawa State.
