The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.
From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.
For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from Arkansas who has played for Brooklyn.
Our focus in this article is Michael Cage. An alum of West Memphis high school, he was picked up with the 14th overall selection of the 1984 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.
The West Memphis, Arkansas native played the first 4 seasons of his pro career with the Clips. He also played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Philadelphia 76ers before he signed with the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets in 1999 for the final stop of his NBA career.
During his time suiting up for the Nets, Cage put up 1.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
