Branden Grace, a nine-time DP World Tour winner, officially announced his return to full-time competition on the DP World Tour for the upcoming season.
In doing so, Grace quit the Southern Guards GC team competing in LIV Golf.
He becomes the second member of the all-South African team to do so in a matter of days after Louis Oosthuizen announced he too was quitting the controversial breakaway league earlier this week.
At the time of publishing it’s unclear what the future holds for the remaining two members, Dean Burmester and Charl Schwartzel.
Lowest round in a major
Branden Grace, a former world No 10, renowned for holding the record for the lowest single-round score in men’s major history, a 62 at the 2017 Open Championship, brings a wealth of experience and championship heritage back to the Tour.
The 38-year-old Grace boasts 15 professional victories worldwide, including two PGA Tour titles and landmark wins on the DP World Tour such as the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the Nedbank Golf Challenge, the SA Open and also the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek.
‘Hungrier than ever’
“Returning to the DP World Tour feels like coming home,” said Branden Grace.
“Some of the proudest moments of my career have happened on this Tour, from my four-time win breakthrough season in 2012 to winning the Investec South African Open in front of home fans.
“I am hungrier than ever to compete and write the next chapter of my career on the global stage.”
